Cleaning Your Slicer

To clean your cheese slicer use warm water and dish soap, wipe down the entire wood surface - paying special care to the slicer wire and groove. Towel off and let set to air dry.

  • NEVER soak your wood cheese slicer or put it in the dishwasher. The extra moisture can cause your board to crack, swell or become damaged.

  • It's best to clean your board right away before cheese dries.

Deep Clean Your Board: You can use a small amount of baking soda and a half of a lemon to clean and sanitize your board and remove debris. Then rinse and wash as above.

To Maintain Your Board: After deep cleaning and periodically, maintain the wood with food grade mineral oil or a wood butter/wax combination to help keep the board moisturized and conditioned. This important step will maintain the longevity of your board and prevent drying and cracking.

We use a food grade mineral oil and 100% beeswax. If you prefer not to use mineral oil, you can also use fractionated coconut oil. It's important that it's fractionated and not just regular coconut or cooking oils. Overtime cooking oils may go rancid. This will help keep your board fresh and ready to go for next time!

Changing the Wires

Step 1: Relieve the Tension

Twist the handle on the cheese slicer counterclockwise to relieve the tension on the wire.

Step 2: Remove the Arm

Pull the handle straight out from the wood slicer to remove the old wire at the top.

Step 3: Loosen the Set Screw

Using the Allen Key provided with your kit, loosen the set screw to relieve the tension on the old wire and remove. If you're missing the Allen Key provided, a standard 2.5mm Allen Key will fit.

Step 4: Replacing the Wire

Place the loop of the new wire inside the tensioning anchor and tighten to secure using the provided Allen Key. Ensure the loop is properly aligned so the set screw will go through the center of the loop.

Step 5: Reinstall the Arm and Secure

Carefully slide the arm back into the board ensuring that the arm slides through the loop on your slicer wire. Once in place, slide the wire anchor back into the handle and screw clockwise until tightened. You're all set!
